The Centenary of the Bus Network with La Mercè

The Centenary features in some key events of the Barcelona La Mercè Festival.
La Mercè festivities and mobility are linked to the historical memory of the city of Barcelona. During La Mercè 2022, the Centenaryo of the bus Network and the TMB Foundation featured in two of the most important events.

La Mercè Race 2022


TMB featured in the overall prizes for the men’s and women’s Race, presented by Santi Torres, Director of Communication and Institutional Relations.

Participants and attendees of La Mercè Race 2022 enjoyed, on Av. Reina Maria Cristina, the start and finish of the race, the first bus to circulate in Barcelona, the Tilling Stevens, from 1922, and also one of the oldest buses in the TMB Foundation’s classic collection: the Aclo Regent III, de 1949, british, sponsored by the beer company Moritz.

Also:

The members of the TMB Athletics Club were the stars of the race and set the pace for the first part as paces.

TMB provided twoo Nissan Leaf 100% electric cars to the organisation: one started the race, another in which the judges will traveled and another showing the official time.

TMB provided the race with one of the last genenation hydrogen bus for the close of the race and with a waste bus, too.

Cavalcada de La Mercè

Young and old saw the big heads of the city on two of the oldest classic buses in the TMB Foundation collection, accompanying La Mercè 2022 parade along the route.

In this collaboration with the Barcelona Giants Coordinator, the different groups entertained those attending the La Mercè parade and saw them carrying flags featuring the image of the centenary of the bus.
