USB chargers on the metro and on the bus

If you need to charge your mobile, Line 2 of the metro has USB charging points at some stations and also on the trains. A third of the bus fleet also offers this free service.

The innovative pilot project for recharging via USB on the Barcelona metro started in December 2016. They are located at each end of the trains at a height suitable for people with reduced mobility to access. Additionally, they are easy to locate thanks to external and interior signage. Each charger is equipped with four USB ports.

USB sockets form part of standard equipment of all new buses, too. In each vehicle, there are at least three USB charging points and three in articulated buses.

USB plug sockets benefit from the Agile Power technology of Yupcharge, which provides a rapid and efficient recharge to all connected mobile devices. Apple devices can take up to 3 amps and Android devices incorporating new fast-charging processors are able to recharge 75% more quickly than with a conventional plug socket. There is also a recognition system to let you know the status of the device as it recharges. The goal is to provide an efficient recharge in the least possible time. With these rapid chargers, Line 2 of the metro is once again at the forefront of cutting edge technology applied to public transport.
